Project Bin Picking

In synergy with IT+Robotics, a spin- off of the University of Padua, and the active collaboration of the Information Engineering Department, Rea Robotics and Fretor, Consortium Ethics started a project aimed to develop a new device based on the use of robots and advanced automation technologies. Thanks to this network, Consortium set up a robotics lab and designed and realized a Bin Picking system, a mechanical anthropomorphic robot able to grip objects of complex shape connected to a three-dimensional vision system for real time recognition of the objects position. For this purpose an innovative measure methodology and a software application able to translate arm positions in space for manipulation of objects currently manually handled have been realized. The application of this revolutionary mechanical arm will introduce both economic and environmental benefits in the robotics field.
